Me on the Tyrol Basin ski resort.
Hey! I'm Jackson, and I've been making things for my entire life - it started with an obsession with LEGO and marble runs, before progressing into Minecraft builds and Geometry Dash levels.. eventually leading me to game development.
In the past couple years, I've made all sorts of games as hobby projects, and it has brought unprecedented joy to my life. This led me to pursuing Games & Interactive Media at Michigan State University! I'm currently a junior and have spent a ton of time at MSU building team working skills and broadening my skills with 2D, some 3D, and video editing tools. I'm also doing the Minor in Game Development!
Outside of making games and making things in games (huge sandbox game fan!) I also really love taking advantage of the winter by skiing, something that my family taught me to do basically as soon as I could stand up. I'm no pro at it, but I love exploring all kinds of trails down the mountain and am only a little terrified of the stunts in the terrain parks.
SKETCHING!!!
One of the strongest habits I've built while working on any project, game development or not, is sketching! It can be hard to convey an idea properly with just words sometimes, and sketches are a huge way to boost this. No matter if it's a solo project or a massive group project, sketches are an immense booster to any discussion and design documentation, and I strongly believe that every game designer should employ them more frequently and inside official documentation. Even if it feels a little childish, the team working benefits are unmatched!
