I started by brainstorming what objects I wanted in the scene and planning their order and general layout. I then planned out the storyboard.
The animation starts with a tennis ball bouncing down a ramp.
The tennis ball then hits some dominoes.
The dominoes push a ball which rolls down a ramp. I attempted to make the ramp out of a curve but it just would not work, so I made it out of a series of blocks.
The ball then bounces off of a drum. I attempted to download or make a better drum model but it kept breaking it.
The ball bounces into a TV, which falls off its stand.
The TV and ball fall onto a ball pump which is attached to a balloon.
The balloon floats up and hits a light switch. The dynamics here were working in a very strange way and the balloon kept going through the switch and switch plate. I eventually was able to get the balloon to just shoot out of the way and decided that looked better than it clipping through.
This project was a real struggle, not because anything was too difficult, but because it was a constant fight to get Maya to do what I was asking it to do. Hinges would move randomly, collisions would not happen, and my computer would crash and overheat constantly. I was happy to get it to playblast at all.
