Junior Japan Bowl (J2B) has quickly become a flagship academic event for young Japanese language learners across the United States.

In just 20 days, J2B reached its maximum registration of 600 students in Grades 1–8, reflecting strong national demand for high-quality and accessible Japanese language programming.

Participants represent 22 schools across 8 states, bringing together a diverse community of students, families, and educators committed to early language learning and academic excellence.

What makes J2B truly distinctive is its mission:

J2B is the only national Japanese language academic competition in the United States offered completely free of charge. By removing financial barriers, J2B ensures that students can participate based on interest and effort—not ability to pay.

Through J2B, students gain motivation and confidence, teachers gain a meaningful academic benchmark, and sponsors help sustain an inclusive national platform that supports the future of Japanese language education in the U.S.

We are excited to announce that the 2026 Jr. Japan Bowl Study Guide is now published! This year’s competition will take place on Friday, April 24, 2026. 

Please mark your calendars for important dates:

• Registration: January 1 – March 1, 2026  (Registration will close once we reach 600 students.) 

• T-Shirt Sale Fundraiser: February 15 – March 15, 2026 

• Study Session: Sunday, March 22, 2026
