One of the most exciting aspects of occupational therapy is the one-on-one interactions with patients, which creates a solid relationship with patients. My life has been filled with caring for others. The earliest lesson I learned from my mother is the importance of caring for others. She taught me to extend a hand of care to my siblings and even those who aren’t immediate family to me. As I grew older, this ignited my passion for healthcare and helped me understand the importance of caring for other people other than myself. However, my plans were dwarfed as the medical system in my country of origin, Nigeria, lacked the resources to achieve my goals. I was fortunate enough when I migrated to the United States, which allowed me to continue in the path of achieving my goals in nursing. Still, while doing that, I learned about something more interesting than nursing, which gave birth to discovering a new career path. This career path was occupational therapy, and this path also made me minor in Psychology.
I choose this career path because it gives me joy, and occupational therapy is the healing of mind, body, and soul
