Launch Event of IYAM

Date: March 2019

Students from Madonna C.S.S. were inspired by the Parliament of World Religions to continue engaging youth in interfaith dialogue. As part of their world religions leadership course, they decided to launch IYAM, the Interfaith Youth Alliance Movement. This video was created by Salt & Light Television featuring highlights from the event. Over 300 students participated from across 4 cities.

IYAM Advent Celebration

Date: December 2019

Youth gathered at St. Paul's Basilica in downtown Toronto, to share what Advent means to Christians and how the Advent season and Christmas are celebrated across diverse cultures around the world. Muslim students presented the significance and meaning of Mary and Jesus in Islam. Approximately 70 students were in attendance from three cities (Toronto, Thornhill, Pickering).

Interfaith Family Festival of Creation

Date: February 2020

As part of World Interfaith Harmony Week, IYAM collaborated with community partners (Archdiocese of Toronto Office for Interreligious Dialogue, Mary Ward Centre) to host an Interfaith Family Festival of Creation. They set up the Climate Change Ribbon installation and hosted the Interfaith Kids Corner with fun, interactive stations (i.e. colouring station, creating friendship bracelets, creating cloth bags from old T-shirts, face-painting, henna, origami, and a kids reading corner with over 20 picture books from diverse faith traditions. Over 200 people attended the event, with over 20 exhibitors, and diverse speakers and artists.


United Nation's World Interfaith Harmony Week

Date: February 2021

An interfaith prayer service hosted by the Nurturing Our Catholic Community Team at the Toronto Catholic District School Board, for World Interfaith Harmony Week. Students from diverse faith traditions shared their thoughts on what the "Golden Rule" means to them. Broadcast has reached over 1,400 viewers.

Justice and Reconciliation: Listen, Learn and Engage


Date: February 2022

Listen to a panel of five guest speakers from their respective faith/spiritual tradition, sharing their thoughts and work on justice and reconciliation (Anishnaabe, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Sikh). This World Interfaith Harmony Week event was planned from the collaboration efforts of the Archdiocese of Toronto Office for Interreligious Dialogue, the Mary Ward Centre, and the Toronto Catholic District School Board (Nurturing Our Catholic Community and Equity Indigenous Education Departments).
