For this project, we had to look for two articles in Google News regarding cybersecurity. We had to analyze these news. We also had to complete an online training regarding cybersecurity, and as a result, we obtained a certificate.
This article talks about a patient from University of Vermont Medical Center, Jes Kraus, who has cancer. Jes was informed that the medical center wouldn't be able to continue getting treatment until further notice because they had been attacked. Jes' family was worried that him not having treatment could cause the tumor to come back aggressive. The hospital being under a ransomware attack had consequences on both doctors and patients. Protecting against ransomware can be a bit difficult, however there are ways to do so. We can keep our software's and operating systems up to date. It is recommended that we back up all important files in a secure spot. We should be using multi-factor authentication as well as paying attention to all phishing warnings.

The author states that Social Security numbers and bank information of 155,000 students and staff was leaked onto the dark web. A student at this college sued them for negligence. Identity theft is a serious problem that has been seen more constant day by day. There are some tips on how to protect against identity theft. One way is to never share personal information such as date of birth, Social Security number and bank account information. Its important to also be aware of all bank statements and know when to use public Wi-Fi networks.

Another assignment I had to complete was an online training about Cybersecurity. This was an interesting training because they included real life situations that CCBC experienced. By doing including these examples, I was able to understand that everyone is subject to insecurity online. After completing this training, we were given a certificate.
After reading news about cybersecurity, I realized that we are exposed to danger both in person and online. I will now be able to analyze everything with detail and identify what can be a danger. I liked this model because after learning all these new tips to protect myself, I can also inform my family.
