What is Shared room?
It gives single travellers the opportunity to book & travel in our trips without having to pay for a costly single supplement.
Is Shared room offered in all tours?
Currently, a selection of our tours offer Shared room. More tours will be added in due time - this will be informed to the company as they become available.
Can passengers still book individually and share a room with a friend?
Yes, that current functionality remains and applies to all tours as normal.
Can a passenger book Shared room and later amend the booking to travel with a known traveller (a friend)
Yes, we can amend the “twin share partner” and “ID” columns in the Perseus backend to be paired to the person they'd like to be paired with
What happens if there isn’t another solo traveller of the same gender in the tour?
That lucky passenger will get a single room for the duration of the tour
What happens if there is an uneven number of passengers of the same gender booking a Shared room?
Passengers will rotate who gets a single room in each destination - luck of the draw.
Can passengers still book a single supplement?
Yes, purchasing a single supplement remains available and it is the only way to guarantee that a solo traveller will have her/his own room on tour
What happens if a passenger snores or has an apnea machine?
We can’t discriminate against those travellers. The wording encourages travellers to refrain from selecting the shared room option if they believe they will prevent their travel companion from having a restful night sleep.
What happens if passengers don’t get along?
Passengers can opt to upgrade to single rooms on the ground. Subject to availability and fees payable directly to hotels. Tour Leaders will help in this process but it's travellers responsibility.
Can customers find out who they are sharing with before tour departs?
They will find out on day 1 of the trip.
Can customers find out who they are sharing with before tour departs?
They will find out on day 1 of the trip.
Are Shared rooms bigger?
They are the same size as the every other twin size room in that hotel - no difference
What is the Shared room bedding configuration?
Two separate single beds.
What happens if a passenger has already booked a single room and wants to move to a shared room?
Inside 120 days, passengers can’t change to shared option.
Outside 120 days, travellers need cancel the existing booking & re-book at the current rate
If the tour is full, they can’t change it. We will not have the ability to pair them up with another traveller.
Passengers will not be proactively contacted in this regard.
Why are we offering Shared Rooms?
To become more competitive. A single supplement ranges from $600 to $2500+. By offering single travellers to share a room, our trips become instantly more competitive.
What happens if a traveller arrives late? E.g. flight arrives at 10pm causing late arrival to hotel
During the naming list stage (around 70 days prior to departure), the operations team identifies shared room bookings where travelers are arriving on different flights. If the timing presents an issue, the ops team creates a task for the Melbourne CS team to contact the guest.
