The Centre College VPN (Virtual Private Network) provides secure, remote access to select campus systems that are otherwise only available from the campus network.
It allows approved users to connect to restricted internal resources when working off campus.
Use the VPN only when you need to access specific campus-only systems, such as:
Research servers or specialised academic systems
CX(Jenzabar)
Alfresco
Cognos
Internal file shares or other restricted resources
Not a general security or privacy tool. It does not encrypt or anonymize your internet traffic.
Not required for most campus services. Microsoft 365, email, Teams, OneDrive, and Moodle work without the VPN.
Not a substitute for safe computing practices such as using updated antivirus software and strong passwords.
VPN access is not automatically granted.
Requests must go through the following approval process:
Students: Must be requested by a faculty member (for academic or research purposes).
Staff: Must be requested by a supervisor (for work-related needs).
All requests: Are reviewed and approved by ITS before access is granted.
Please contact ITS at helpdesk@centre.edu to request access or if you have further questions or concerns.
