Information Technology in Psychology (IT in Psychology) is a one-semester course for the bachelor’s program students who selected Psychology specialization. The course is taught in English.
This course was created to help psychology students studying the practical aspects of the use of IT-technologies in psychological practice. For the theory itself there are no pre-requisites except for an aptitude for logical reasoning. However, many examples will reference concepts from "Introduction to the Profession", "Psychodiagnostics", "Mathematical Statistics", "Computer Methods in Psychodiagnostics", "Mathematical Methods in Psychology".
The course focuses on practice, but not theory.
The use of computer technologies and IT is becoming increasingly widespread in research practice – both in connection with the creation of computer versions of diagnostic tools (allowing for large-scale research, speeding up the procedure of individual diagnosis, etc.), and in connection with increased requirements for the level of psychological research in general.
Learning Objectives
mastering modern information and communication technologies in the field of psychological sciences;
formation of basic skills of independent practical work with common software products and information services in the field of psychology;
mastering the general principles of modern computer operation and telecommunication equipment used for the organization of the educational process and scientific research;
mastering the ability to apply basic modern communication technologies in professional practice & activities.

Theoretical and methodological foundations of the course, familiarization with the main categories, mastering the conceptual apparatus of the course, glossary compiling.
Google web-oriented applications resources and capabilities in the psychologist activity. Informational psychological resource creation (website, blog, channel).
Individual educational route (IOM) development.
Information processes general characteristics.
Information and data, their similarities and differences.
The technology of recording, processing and transmitting numerical and textual information.
Digital services overview, programs and technologies used in psychological research.
Methods of documentation and data processing using IT and special programs. Documenting data in Microsoft Word Program.
