One of the most valuable aspects of an in-person conference is the opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, meet new people, and engage in informal discussions. Such conversations often spark inspiring ideas and sometimes lead to meaningful collaborations. While virtual gatherings cannot fully replicate the effectiveness of in-person interactions, they are a valuable alternative and serve as an essential platform for fostering connections and discussions.
To facilitate virtual interactions, our online gatherings will take place on Gather.town.
[UPDATE] The link is: https://app.gather.town/events/KCh_7ZodTHeQjWpUu3x1
There will be three recommended gathering sessions each day, held at the following times (in UTC): 00:00–01:00, 08:00–09:00, 16:00–17:00. (You can also see this in our Calendar.)
While you are welcome to join the gatherings at any time that suits you, these recommended time slots serve as a common point of reference where most participants are encouraged to attend. The aim is to create an opportunity for broader interaction and to foster a diverse mix of participants during these sessions.
Virtual gatherings can be a bit different from in-person ones, so here are a few gentle tips to help you make the most of them:
Don’t be shy! If there’s someone you’d like to talk to—whether it’s about their work or just to say hello—go ahead and strike up a conversation. Turning on your camera can also make the interaction feel more personal and engaging. A little proactivity goes a long way in online settings!
Be open and kind. If someone reaches out to chat, be welcoming! Great ideas often come from spontaneous and unexpected conversations.
Plan ahead if needed. If there’s someone you’d like to talk to in particular (e.g., to discuss their papers), you can schedule a time to meet with them on Gather.town. If you’d prefer fewer interruptions, you can set up your meeting outside the recommended gathering sessions.
Remember, these informal chats are all about connecting with others, sharing ideas, and having fun. So jump in, mingle, and enjoy the experience!
