The paper discussion session will serve as the main part of this online parallel event. It is scheduled to take place on Jan 7-10, the same dates as the physical ITCS conference. Paper discussion sessions will not be recorded.
If you would like to present a paper, please register using the Google Sheet below, indicating your name and available time slots (with time zones). Although there is no strict deadline, we kindly encourage you to register by January 7, 2025. As we still don't have enough presenters so far (by Jan 4), registrations during Jan 7-10 are also highly encouraged!
You do not need to be an author of the paper to present it. Instead, it is sufficient if you are somewhat knowledgeable about the paper and find it interesting enough to share with others. We also encourage multiple participants (preferably spanning different time zones) to present the same paper. If you are interested in presenting more than one paper, that would be highly welcomed!
Tips for presenting papers:
Please prepare in advance and estimate the time required for your presentation.
Focus on explaining why you find the paper interesting.
Possible formats include, but are not limited to, slides, prepared notes, or whiteboard talks.
Set Up a Zoom Meeting Room
Please set up a Zoom meeting room for your presentation. Alternatively, you may utilize one of the following Zoom meeting rooms contributed by other participants (thank you very much for them!):

Update Information on the Google Sheet
Please fill in the following details accurately in the Google Sheet:
Zoom link: Include the link to your Zoom meeting room.
Presentation time: Specify the time allocated for your presentation.
Email address: Provide your email address to allow attendees to contact you in case the scheduled timing is not suitable for them.
For example: "Alan Turing <amturing@example.com>, (London time) Jan 8 3:30pm-4:00pm, https://example.com/meetingroom?id=123456789"
Add an Event to the Calendar
Create an event in our shared Calendar with your presentation details. Note that we need to grant permission manually; if you do not have permission, kindly contact onlineparallels@gmail.com for assistance.
Below is an example Calendar entry:
Title: "On Computable Numbers, with an Application to the Entscheidungsproblem", presented by Alan Turing
Time: Jan 8, 3:30pm-4:00pm (London time)
Description: A 25-minute slide-based presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A.
Engage in Further Discussions
If further discussions are needed after the presentation, you are invited to continue the conversation on Zoom or in our gather.town room.
Please register in the Google sheet below. The registration is informal, but it can help estimate the "popularity" of a paper.
UPDATE (Dec 30): For those who prefer to remain anonymous, there is also the option to register anonymously. Simply input "anonymous" in the corresponding Google Sheet cell, or increment the counter if someone else has already done so.
Note: While we will strive to accommodate all requests, it might be infeasible to find a presenter for every paper. If there is no presenter for a paper you are interested in, you are welcome to read the paper or watch the video yourself so that you can present it to others!
Q: I am interested in a paper presentation, but the scheduled time is not convenient for me. What should I do?
A: We encourage you to reach out to the presenter via email to share your preferred timing. This is why presenters are asked to provide their email addresses. However, please be aware that the presenter may not be able to accommodate all requests. In some cases, the presenter might consider delivering the presentation twice at different times to address such concerns.
