Project Aim

To build a Role Playing Game (RPG) with the script and ideation written by Chronicle, character animation and environment modelling and art made by Create using Blender and game development from scratch using the Unity3D Game Engine by Crypt.

Progress

The plot of the game revolves around a person suffering from mental trauma seeking therapeutic help. We dwell into the psyche of this individual as we try to unravel the mysteries behind his traumas.

The work from Chronicle side is completed, finishing touches, and one story is partially left. The ideation for the game as well as flow was prepared by Chronicle members after numerous discussions.

From Create, the character and environment modelling has been completed. As Motion Capture using Kinect wasn’t possible due to unforeseen circumstances, existing MoCap data was then used for all character animations within the game, with tweaks made with Unity’s editor. Certain aspects of the game involving fluid simulations, like blood splatter were first simulated within Blender and then exported out to Unity.

On Crypt side, the basic level design and layout is done, with enemy AI implemented using a form of Finite State Model (FSM). Custom scripts were also written for rendering of fluid simulations done within Blender. Integrating the game with mechanics has been difficult due to lockdown, nearly all members have internships and thus, the project has been delayed. For the demo, a few screenshots and working videos of the game have been uploaded.

Future work

The game will ideally be completed in July once internships for all members are over. The game can then be extended as a project next year as well or optimized for release.
