Consumerization of Pop Art
Project Proposal
Project Proposal
I wanted to explore the theme of overconsumption within the context of Pop Art, as introduced in Module 2, because it feels increasingly relevant in today’s digital age. With the rise of social media and online platforms, art has become more accessible than ever, but also more easily consumed and discarded.
As such, I was interested in how this shift mirrors Pop Art’s original commentary on mass production and consumer culture, yet takes on new dimensions through digital virality and commercialization.
By examining how audiences often engage with art only at a surface level before quickly moving on, I hoped to uncover how this pattern affects both artists and viewers, and what it means for the value and experience of art in a hyperconnected world.
