instructions
final product
For this project I took inspiration from Lewitt and other artists and had someone else create / put together my piece. For this project I enlisted the help of my 3 friends and wrote out instructions for them to work off of. I had each person use the same instructions as well. I thought this would make it interesting to see how everyone interpreted the instructions differently.
The gist of the instructions for this project was to create 3 cootie catchers per person and then turn them into flowers. For this project I wanted to keep it relatively simple as my friends aren't by any means artistically gifted. I wanted it to be simple enough that they could bring my vision to life and have it actually look good as well. I also wanted them to be able to do it with no help from me at all and just rely on the instructions I provided them.
I was thinking of doing something origami related but had a hard time finding an actual idea for it. As I was playing around with paper, I wanted to see if I was still able to make a cootie catcher since it has been years since I've attempted. To my surprise, I did it on the first try from just my memory alone. As I was playing around with the creation, I noticed that it kind of looked like a flower if you held it right. Then I thought how it would be cute and nostalgic to make a whole bouquet of them!
I had my friends turn each of their catchers into flowers and then had them work together to arrange them and make them look pretty. Overall, I really like the way it turned out and had a blast seeing my friends create something together! The instructions I had written are on the yellow page and the final product is the video on the right :)
