Roberto Marani (born March 27, 1985, B.E. 2006, M.S. 2008, Ph.D. 2012) is an Electronic Engineer at CNR-STIIMA.
From January 2009 to December 2011 he attended the PhD course of Information Engineering at the Electronic and Electrotechnic Department of the Polytechnic University of Bari.
From January 2009 to February 2010 he carried out his research activity at the Optoelectronics Laboratory (Bari), and from March 2010 to March 2012 he cooperated with the nanoPhotonics and Electromagnetics Group (nPEG) of the Polytechnic University of Bari.
From February 2011 to October 2011 he went to Madrid, Spain, joining the Nanophotonics Group of the Department of Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics (Departamento di Física Teórica de la Materia Condensada) at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
From May 2012 to April 2014 he was a research fellow at the Institute of Intelligent Systems for Automation (Istituto di Studi sui Sistemi Intelligenti per l’Automazione - ISSIA) of the National Research Council (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche - CNR) in Bari, where he is working on the three-dimensional object reconstruction via laser scanning and range image processing for machine vision.
From May 2014 to June 2018 he served as staff Researcher of the Institute of Intelligent Systems for Automation (Istituto di Studi sui Sistemi Intelligenti per l’Automazione - ISSIA) at the National Research Council, and he was involved in the design of hardware and software prototypes for autonomous systems.
Since July 2018 he is permantent staff Researcher of the Institute of Intelligent Industrial Technologies and Systems for Advanced Manufacturing (Istituto di Sistemi e Tecnologie Industriali Intelligenti per il Manifatturiero Avanzato - STIIMA) of the National Research Council , where he cooperates with the Intelligent Sensing and Perception Group for computer vision, machine and deep learning applications, dedicated to industrial applications, robotics, geology, archaeology and reverse engineering.
He is author of more than 80 scientific papers on international peer-reviewed journals and 40 proceedings of international conferences.
