Q. What is MTN XtraByte?
A. MTN XtraByte is a service that allows eligible customers borrow data on credit when they run out of data while browsing and pay back on their next recharge.
Q. Will MTN XtraByte be available to all customers?
A. MTN XtraByte will ONLY be available to customers that are eligible for the service.
Q. How will a customer check if s/he is eligible to use the service?
A. A customer can check if s/he is eligible by dialing *606# and then selecting 1.
Q. Can I borrow data if I have an existing airtime loan that I have not paid back?
A. Yes, you can borrow data while owing airtime as long as you are within your credit limit.
Q. Will I be able to borrow airtime or data multiple times within my credit limit?
A. Yes, you will be able to borrow airtime or data multiple times as long as you are within your credit limit.
Q. How will I pay back the data I borrowed?
A. You will be able to pay back any outstanding amount by recharging using physical recharge, DYA, On Demand, receiving airtime from a friend from Share N Sell or any other means.
Q. Can I view my transaction history?
A. Yes, you will be able to view your transaction history by dialing *606# and then select transaction history.
Q. Will the data I borrowed be loaded into my main account after successful requests?
A. No, the data bundle borrowed will be credited into a special XtraByte dedicated account.
Q. Will the data borrowed have an expiry date/validity?
A. Yes, the data borrowed will have the same expiry date/validity period of the original data plan as seen in table below:
Q. How can I check the data balance in my XtraByte account?
A. You can check the data balance in your XtraByte account, by dialling the USSD code *606#, then selecting check balance.
Q. Will I be able to transfer data from my XtraByte account to another customer’s account?
A. No, you will NOT be able to transfer data from your XtraByte account to another customer’s account.
Q. Will I be able to browse after I exhaust the data?
A. No, your browsing session will be suspended. However, you will able to borrow another data as long as you are within your credit limit
Q. What happens when the amount recharged is not enough to pay back the data amount borrowed completely?
A. When the recharge amount is less than the outstanding data amount, subsequent recharges will be used to recover whatever is outstanding until the loan is fully recovered.
Q. What happens when the amount recharged by a customer is more than the data amount borrowed?
A. When the recharge amount is greater than the outstanding data amount, the data amount will be deducted first and the balance loaded into the customer’s main account.
Q. What happens when a customer recharges her/his account using a different recharge code, e.g. WoW , instead of the standard recharge code, *555*…?
A. In cases where a customer recharges using a different recharge code, e.g. WoW, the XtraByte credit borrowed is first deducted from the amount recharged, the balance and its associated bonus will then be loaded into their respective dedicated accounts.
Q. Can I pay back the XtraByte data borrowed via Share ’n’ Sell?
A. Yes. Any airtime that is transferred into the customer’s account via Share ’n’ Sell can be used to pay off any outstanding XtraByte loan.
Q. Can a customer pay back XtraByte using credit/bonus in any other dedicated account?
A. No, a customer cannot use any credit/bonus/freebie in any of her/his dedicated account(s) to offset the MTN XtraByte loan incurred.
Q. Will a customer need to pay back XtraByte owed even if such data has not yet been used?
A. Yes. The data amount borrowed will be deducted once the customer recharges, regardless of how much of data s/he has actually used.
Q. What account will be charged first when a customer has data in any other data account and XtraByte account?
A. In cases where a customer has data in other data
account and XtraByte account, the browsing fee will be deducted from the XtraByte account first before charging other data account.
Q. Can a customer owing XtraByte borrow additional data?
A. Yes, a customer can borrow multiple data even if the customer is yet to pay back the data borrowed as long as the customer is within her/his credit limit.
Q. Is there a limit on the number of times a customer can borrow data using XtraByte?
A. A customer can borrow data multiple times as long as the customer is within the credit limit.
