Your data usage is the amount of data you spend when you send and receive (download and upload) data through your internet connection. High data usage activities such as downloading, updating applications and streaming videos affects how much data is consumed and not the speed of your internet connection. Find out how you can manage data on your various applications.
1. Set Limit for Hotspot/ Tethering:
For most Android Devices:
*Tap Settings and select More
*Select Portable Wi-Fi/ Hotspot
*Choose Tethering and Portable Hotspot
*Scroll and Set Data Limit as desired
For most IOS Devices (iPhones)
*Tap Settings
*Go to Data Storage and Usage
*Tap the Green Button to turn off the Hotspot
*Note that the Button turns gray once it is switched off.
2. Disable Auto Updates for Apps
For most IOS Devices:
*Tap Settings
*Select Cellular
*Scroll up and view All Apps
*Tap the Green Button to turn off desired apps
For most Windows Devices Whatsapp:
*Tap Settings and then More
*Under Menu select Data Sense
*Select Set Limit
*Set Data Limit as desired
Disable Auto Download on WhatsApp
For most IOS Devices photos, videos and document:
*Tap Settings
*choose Data & Storage Usage
*Scroll down to Media Auto-Download
*Select Photo, Audio, Videos And Documents To Wifi
For most Android Devices Mail:
*Tap Settings
*Choose Data Usage
*Select When Using Mobile Data and uncheck as desired either photo, audio, videos or documents
*Set Photo, Audio, Videos And Documents To Wi-Fi
*Disable Auto Download in Mail
For most Android and IOS Devices Instagram:
*Launch your Email application
*Tap on the Menu button
*Go to Settings
*Select General Settings
*Disable Do Not Load Pictures Over Mobile Network.
7.Turning off Auto Play Videos on Instagram
For most Android Devices Instagram:
*Tap on more options icon on the profile page
*Scroll down and tap on Cellular Data Use under Settings
*Turn on Use Less Data
*Turning off Auto Play Videos on Instagram
For most IOS Devices Chrome, facebook:
*Tap on the Settings icon on the top right corner of the app
*Go to Cellular Data Use
*Turn on Use Less Data
*Turning off Auto Play Videos on Chrome
-Launch the Chrome application
*Tap More under Settings
*Tap Data Saver under Advanced
*Switch the Settings on
*Turning off Auto Play Videos on Facebook
-Launch the Facebook application
*Tap on the Menu Button on the top right corner of the app
*Scroll down and Tap the Settings under the Help and Settings
*Scroll down and Tap Auto play
*Select Never Auto play Videos
3. Turning off Auto Play Videos on Twitter
*Launch the Twitter application
*Tap on Profile Picture
*Scroll down and tap Settings and Privacy
*Tap Data Usage under General
*Select Video Auto play and choose Never
*Turning off Auto Play Videos on LinkedIn
For most Android Devices:
*Tap on Profile Picture on the lower right corner of the application
*Tap Settings Icon in the top right corner of your profile
*On the Account tab, tap Auto play Videos
*Choose from the options Never Auto play Videos
