Please be informed of the newly improved Data Gifting service. The Data Gifting service now has 2 new features called Dash Me Data and Data Transfer services.
“Dash Me Data or Request Data from a Friend” is a service that allows MyCustomer® initiate a data request to his/ her friends for them to buy MyCustomer® a data bundle. By this, the beneficiary can request for data from a sponsor.
“Data Transfer” is a service that allows MyCustomer® share data from their active data balance e.g. customer “A” who has an active data plan can now share certain amount of data with another customer who is customer “B” up to a certain limit.
To this end, the Data Gifting Service name on the USSD menu (*131*7#) has now been changed from ‘Data Gifting’ to ‘Gift Data’ and the following services have been made available on menu:
1. Transfer from Data Balance
2. Buy for a Friend
3. Request from a Friend
4. View Pending Request
The minimum volume of data allowable for transfer has been enhanced to 50MB while the maximum cumulative amount of data that can be transferred in a day is now 1GB.
The Service is available via all channels - SMS,USSD, Direct USSD, and MyMTN App Channels.

How to use the Gift Data service through Data transfer channels
USSD - Dial *131*7#
SMS to 131 - Transfer<space>Beneficiary’s Phone number<space>Data amount
MyMTN App - Select particular data to share>Share Data>and follow the prompt.
Direct USSD - Dial *131*Beneficiary’s Phone number*Data amount# / Dial *131*Bundle Activation Code*Beneficiary’s Phone number#
Note:
The donor does not need a pin to gift Data
MyCustomer can only buy and transfer data from daily, weekly, and monthly bundle plans.
MyCustomer shall not be able to gift from an XtraValue bundle and XtraSpecial bundle.
MTN Data transfer service is available to all MTN customers
Bonuses, ExtraValue bundles etc. are not eligible for data transfer
MyCustomer will only be able to transfer from the bundle with the latest validity at any given time and the expiry date will be the same on the beneficiary’s line.
MyCustomers will not be able to combine their total data balance for any transfer. Transfer will only be from the data plan that has sufficient balance.
If MyCustomer has an existing data before receiving data transfer, the data received will deplete first before the active data bundle.

MyCustomer can check data bundle balance via the following channels: SMS: Texting 2 to 131, USSD: Dialing *131*4# or via MyMTNApp.
