Lately a lot of misinformation has been in circulation  about 5G and its linkage to COVID 19. Some of the misinformation has indicated that MTN is currently rolling out 5g in various locations during this period.

Please find below responses to guide MyCustomer® enquiries on the subject.

Q1. Do we have a 5g network?

A1. No we do not have 5G  in Nigeria. We successfully completed a limited trial last year with trial spectrum issued by the NCC. This has since been decommissioned.

Q2. Does 5g cause covid?

A2. No, the theories being spread about 5G on social media are completely false.

According to the world health organisation  "To date, and after much research performed, no adverse health effect has been causally linked with exposure to wireless technologies"

Q3. Why are your engineers out and about?

A3. Our people are at work  repairing and maintaining the network this is essential to ensuring we are able to keep you connected. This is very important as in the states under lockdown, where people are working from home, there has been an exponential growth in data usage. The activities of our engineers ensure that our network is resilient and able to handle the increased traffic volumes.
