Student Research

Student Research

ISNC is committed to foster student research to inculcate "lifelong learning" in them and defines student research as “a process of inquiry or investigation conducted by the student under supervision to enrich the learning experience and to foster the lifelong learning process.”. To this effect the institution has created opportunities to engage in curricular, extra-curricular, and staff initiated research

Curricular Course Embedded Research

ISNC understands the in-separable relationship between academia and research. Therefore, its curricula [under and postgraduate] have a number of courses with research embedded in them. These courses first teach the theory of research and the subsequent courses allow the students to practice the theory learnt. They conduct research as course work which concludes with either submission of thesis/dissertation, publication manuscript or sometimes even publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Staff-initiated Research

To promote student research ISNC employs the policy to engage students in all possible staff-initiated research. The benefit from such an engagement can range from securing an opportunity to work with experienced researchers to being able to co-author the publications emerging from the project, which depends upon the contribution towards the project and agreement of the research team.

Extra-curricular Course Embedded Research [Summer Research Course]

ISNC annually conducts extra-curricular course during summer. The course aims at not only teaching research in the shortest possible time, it also provides opportunity to conduct a research project within the course which culminates in a publication in national and international peer-reviewed journals.

The summer research course not only provides opportunity to the students' engage in research and publish it also provides opportunity to the otherwise busy academics to undertake research work off their summer break
