“Exploring Neurochemistry through Brain Stimulation: A Hands-On ISN Training School” is a one week intensive course with lectures, demonstrations, and practical exercises in neuroscience, aimed at undergraduate and master students from the fields of molecular biology, medicine, pharmacology, biochemistry, chemistry and related fields.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn and perform state-of-the-art neuroscientific methods, techniques, and opportunities such as:
Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), a painless and non-invasive brain stimulation which showed promising therapeutic effects on a variety of neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders in both animal and clinical studies,
ELISA tests,
Western blotting,
Interpret and discus the changes in neurochemical profile of synaptosomes after two opposite types of rTMS, the excitatory and inhibitory one,
Engage participants with experienced neuroscientists and gain valuable professional advice,
Help participants find future laboratory practice and employment opportunities, as well as suggestions for future careers.
Through a combination of expert lectures and laboratory practice, participants will gain knowledge and skills applicable to their future research. All participants will be divided into small groups and assigned an instructor to guide them through the experimental procedures.
