VOLUNTEER
Are you passionate about saving dogs? Do you want to help change lives? Joining our team and becoming a volunteer just might be for you! We run off of volunteers, your work is very important to help us save those sweet pups! We want to make a difference and help as many dogs as possible but we need people like YOU!
Available Positions
Animal Care Officer: You will make sure that each dog is receiving proper vet care and preventatives, you will need to keep track of their health records too. If a certain dog requires something extra (ex: joint supplement) you will need to list that and make sure they have enough while with the foster.
Transporter: You will need a reliable vehicle to transport dogs (you do not need to transport many at once). You will be transporting dogs from the Jeff's Way Home team to the stray hold (or long term) foster. You will also transport dogs from their foster home to veterinary appointments (if foster is unable) and adoption events. You will need to make sure the dogs get there on time in a safe manner. The dogs will be kenneled during transport, they will be double leashed too. Slip leads, martingales, leashes, and crates will be provided.
Home Inspector: You will be in charge of inspecting potential adopter and foster homes. We want to make sure each dog will be going to a safe and loving environment. Once a foster/adoption application is received and everything looks good we will allow you to set up a time to go inspect their home. Once you are done with the inspection you will be required to submit a short checklist/report.
Home Visit Coordinator: You will be doing the regular checks with fosters, you can do virtual visits or in-person visits to check and see how the dog is doing in the home. You will watch them around the household (humans and animals included) to see how comfortable the dog is, make note of anything they should (or shouldn't) have in their furever home. Sometimes dogs change and their current foster home just isn't working out, this is also something to leave in the notes. Once you are done with each visit you will be required to submit a short report.
Event Coordinator: You are in charge of planning our adoption events! You will need to get in touch with local businesses and coordinate dates and times for our events. You will also need to send out the invite for the event to the fosters so they can sign up for the event.
Fundraiser Coordinator: You will be in charge of setting up and planning fundraisers, you will have to be in contact with local businesses to coordinate dates, times, and events. You will also need to promote the fundraisers and track donations.
Admin: There are many different positions for this specific job (you do not have to fill all roles in this position). You will need to keep track of foster applications, whether or not they are approved or denied and how their house inspection went. You will need to keep detailed records of the fosters and adopters, these files also need to be kept organized. You need to contact the references, vet clinics, and previous rescues (if applicable) and note if it sounds like the potential foster/adopter is a good fit.
