Ishmael Nicholson is a highly educated young leader who has taken full advantage of the opportunities presented to him. He began his education at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Primary School, where he received a scholarship to attend the prestigious Ecumenical High School. Throughout his time there, he was involved in student leadership and community service, and demonstrated a dedication to both academics and personal development.

In 2020, Ishmael graduated from Stann Creek Ecumenical College with honors, and went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree in Accounting and Business Management from Stann Creek Ecumenical Joiner College. His solid education, combined with his years of experience in community service and leadership, have equipped him with the skills and knowledge needed to be an effective and impactful leader.

Nicholson became the Belizean Children's Parliament governor-general shortly after the 2nd Children's Parliament begun. He is the first Children's Parliament governor-general in the Commonwealth . Nicholson is active in creating and maintaining relations with foreign dignitaries and countries. He is also active within the larger community in Belize, specifically in children's rights and youth leadership.

Nicholson tenure as Governor-General came to an end on 4 November 2022.
