ISDDE 2022

Learning 2 Design

Design 4 Learning

26 - 29 September 2022

In 2022 the ISDDE annual conference returned to the UK and visited for the first time the home of the Shell Centre, at The University of Nottingham.

The conference theme was Learning 2 Design: Design 4 Learning, with the goal of growing our ISDDE community by reaching out to communities involved in educational design but don’t always recognise or acknowledge this aspect of their work. We supported our growing community of educational designers in STEM involved with all aspects of design including teaching and learning resources, professional development, assessment, learning technologies, curriculum specification, policy and more. Whatever the focus of their work, they joined us in Nottingham to connect with designers at all stages of their careers.

There were opportunities to present their work in two formal presentation formats: presentations and posters as well as more informally both in discussion working groups as well as during networking and social spaces.

Nottingham with its central location provided a wonderful stepping off point to visit some of England's historic houses such as Chatsworth and Hardwick Hall (with its associations with Mary Queen of Scots), the ancient cities of York, Oxford and Cambridge. Meanwhile Nottingham itself is widely known for its role in the Robin Hood legend for the hilltop Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery and the Lace Market area, once the centre of the world’s lace industry.

This was our first in-person conference since Pittsburgh 2019.
