How to Donate a Sand Collection
Contact the ISCS at email donations@sandcollectors.org to inquire about donating a sand collection. A representative of the Donations Committee will respond and discuss the suitability of your collection for ISCS. We recognize that all collections are unique to the collector.
We will consider the size and scope of the collection, and how the collection can get to one of the ISCS's designated members or sites within the US. You, as the donor must acknowledge your ownership of the collection and agree that the ISCS has complete control of its use once donated.
Note: All sands must be labeled with a geographic location. We do not accept unlabeled samples. Donors may choose to mail the collections; however, the ISCS does not have a budget to pay for shipping collections.
To help us evaluate the collection, please provide photographs of the collection, the containers and associated materials. The ISCS will decide quickly whether or not to accept your collection.
For each donated collection, the ISCS will photograph some samples and create a legacy page on the ISCS website to recognize the collection and the collector. Please view previous donations as examples. Sands will then be processed and made available to ISCS members or to educators.
Donation Certificate
If you are an active collector and would like to preplan for your collection to be donated to the ISCS, please include this certificate with your collection and your important papers. You might also consider a legacy contribution to assure transfer to the ISCS.
