For this initial reflection, we will be focusing on the Abstract, Intro/Background information, Goals/Objectives, and the methods.
Introduction/Background (Geology knowledge) Please give as full an explanation as possible of your knowledge of our planet, its processes, and its impact on humans.
I know that the earth is made up of layers and has specific elements within its atmosphere that allow us to create and have a sustainable life here. Though I have knowledge about the processes of the earth from previous education, I am not knowledgeable about this at the present time.
Below are the student learning outcomes for this class. How comfortable do you feel with those objectives at this point in time?
- I am fully comfortable with the student learning outcomes for the class.
Recognize 20–30 of the most common earth minerals by applying...
Identify the three major rock types and their geologic processes.
Analyze geologic deep time and the geologic chart.
Demonstrate map scale and location.
Which one do you want to focus most specifically on this semester and why?
I am excited to challenge myself and learn most of the most common varieties of the rock family. I am very intrigued by rocks, minerals and crystals that come from this universe. I know not all the materials/elements found in certain rocks and crystals are not from earth. That is what I find most fascinating and why I am excited about this semester.
Goals and Objectives
What is your SMART goal?
- My SMART goal for this class is to pass with a B or an A by being attentive/present in class and have fun most importantly.
If this were a graded class, what would your (realistic) goal be, based on your current life situation and expectations?
I am just excited for the journey.
