Abstract
This semester, I realize that I'm content with my work ethic and completion in the class. However, sometimes, with that stated, I don’t necessarily feel I met my perfect goal for myself in the class this semester. This being a factor of my work demanding so much of my time it took an outstanding deal of my free time. After all, I realize the course went well. When I was in class, I was focused and attentive to my finest ability. I practiced this by taking notes and drawings for upcoming feedback on assignments. As said by my encounter in the course, overall I'd give myself a B as my grade.
INTRODUCTION/ BACKGROUND
I know that the earth is made up of layers and has specific elements within its atmosphere that allows us to create and have a sustainable life here. I know I’ve learned before from previous education about the processes of the earth, however, I am not currently still knowledgeable and up to date with a majority of information on this topic.
GOALS/ OBJECTIVES
My realistic expectations / objectives that I set for myself in this course were not to give up on myself. I desired to remain on top of my education/school work as much as possible as well as my workload evenly because time management is very appropriate for this time in my life at the moment. Sad to say, I do feel work took over a little over more than I'd have liked it to. Luckily, I sort of figured this would happen, so I lessened my emphasis on myself by postponing a class this semester.
Methods
I felt that my methods for this semester worked very well for how insisting it was. My scheduling on my board helped me be more organized and I was able to prepare myself better for upcoming assignments this month. This month definitely felt a lot less stressful than the beginning of the month which caused me to be more on top of my work. Questions that you can think about for the methods section are below. Some of the methods that I used were helpful towards my time management between work and school. Those including; setting an alarm 2 hours before class starts to give myself time to eat and get ready for the day, another alarm for an hour before I’m supposed to be in at work, most importantly I write my time and places that I need to be when I bed to be there on my white board/calendar in my room. I spent a good 5-10 hours studying and preparing for any assignments/labs that we may have had within the week of the class. Within the last three weeks I have completed about two, maybe three objectives if I’m not mistaken. Those being the presentation, Mineral quiz and this final SLO.
Conclusions/Discussion
In conclusion I feel that for the amount of time I did spend on class, I was very attentive and involved as possible with the class. I was one of the few people in the class excitingly willing to answer and play along with the group presentations. I am always happy with in class interactions. With that being said, I believe with the studying I have gotten done I am pretty knowledgeable on some oceanography topics. I did retain a great amount of information from the class. I now know the name of about 40-50 rocks/minerals, and I know better how to classify them and whether or not they are extrusive or intrusive. I also learned more about the general knowledge of the tectonic plate we are standing on and the name of it. I know a couple fun facts on the fault line and the types of plate tectonics/boundaries. The topic that I would say I had the most practice with would be the topography and the mapping. I enjoyed those labs and lectures that we had on that topic. What I enjoyed most in the class was our presentations, not only because we were almost interactive but also because of the information on the various different topics.
