Art club takes place on Wednesdays after school from 3:00-4:00. Each week, we take on a new project. Students are given independent time to explore materials and topics that they are especially interested in. It is an opportunity for students to create extra artwork not only for their portfolios, but for fun. By the end of the year, students will have accumulated a mass of independent projects that focus on their particular artistic interests. Because of the size of art club, students gain more individualized attention and instruction. In the art room, students are encouraged to take chances, make mistakes, try, fail and try again. The art room is open to everyone and is a great place to make a new friend. If you are interested in joining the art club, please see Ms.Testa to get a permission slip. Only students with signed permission slips will be admitted. See you soon!
On Wednesdays, in combination with art club, from 3:00-4:00 in the art room, all students are invited to partake in a portfolio making workshop. These workshops are intended to help prospective 7th and 8th graders prepare for fine arts and performing arts high school auditions. During these workshops, students will learn how to curate a portfolio of unique work. Students will research the programs of their choice and be assisted in gathering and creating material for their auditions. Students will also partake in projects and exercises that will prepare them for auditions. Please be advised, portfolio club is a commitment. Only students who are serious about high school programs should sign up. All are welcome to join, no matter how much art work they currently have completed. Permission slips must be signed by a parent or guardian. Please see Ms. Testa to get a permission slip.
