Bio: Ms. Testa began working at IS162 in the fall of 2019, before the pandemic. Prior to teaching, Ms.Testa worked in professional theatre and live events. She attended Roger Williams University in Rhode Island where she studied theatre and scenic design. After working in the entertainment industry, Ms. Testa pivoted to pursue her original passion—working with kids. She received her masters in Art and Design Education in 2019 from Pratt institute. She hopes to pass on the lessons that she learned as a working artist to younger generations. In the coming years, she hopes to grow and expand the 162 Fine Arts program into a thriving community of aspiring artists at all levels.

Program Mission Statement: In Art at 162, the goal is not to teach you what to learn, but how to learn. Students are constantly analyzing artworks and being asked to use what they already know to voice their opinions. Students are encouraged to use thoughtful language when discussing the art we study, as well as the art we create. Students are exposed to a variety of materials and shown how to use them as tools for thought and creativity.

Declaración de la Misión del Programa: En Arte en 162, la meta no es enseñarle qué aprender, sino cómo aprender.
