The iRYSE Lab had a fantastic time presenting a workshop on high school versus college writing with students from REACH Memphis. Excellent questions were asked and a good time was had by all.
All in the span of one week, Myahkia was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor's Society AND delivered a fantastic presentation on her research at the Works in Progress Symposium. Myahkia is taking the world by storm. Congratulations, Myahkia, on your inspiring accomplishments.
The iRYSE Lab went to the National Civil Rights Museum to visit the Let the World See exhibit, which focuses on Mamie Till-Mobley's fight to gain justice following the lynching of her son Emmett Till in 1955. This tragic event shook the world and shined a light on the, often ignored or silenced, injustices experienced by Blacks in the South. We can never forget where we have come from if we wish to shape a better future.
To honor Indigenous People's Day, the struggles they have endured, the fight that they continue to to gain native sovereignty, we visited Chucalissa. It was both fun and educational! Learn more about Chucalissa here.
Congratulations to Myahkia on successfully proposing her Honor's Thesis. Her thesis will focus on the relations between racial identity and psychosocial outcomes in Black college students attending PWIs. We're so excited to see where you take this amazing work, Myahkia!!!
