Raina Batra is a Political Science major from New Jersey. At Amherst, she is part of the debate team, figure skating club, consulting club, and ski team. She also represented Amherst as a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholar in Chinese. After Amherst, she plans on attending law school.
Phuong Doan is a Political Science major from Minnesota. On campus, he is part of the Debate Society and the Association of Amherst Students. Outside the classroom, he enjoys watching terrible rom coms. After Amherst College, Phuong is hoping to go to law school.
Angelina Flores is an environmental studies and economics double major. With a focus on international relations, she seeks to continue her studies on how these disciplines interact to foster global cooperation on the climate crisis. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys reading, taking scenic pictures, going to the gym, and cooking.
Macy is a political science and economics major from California. She is interested in studying international relations and global politics, as well as exploring solutions to educational inequality in the U.S. Beyond politics, she is passionate about creative writing and journalism. In her free time, she enjoys taking sunset pictures and listening to early 2010s pop music.
Claire Liu is a Political Science and Economics double major. Coming from Shanghai, China, and Glendora, California, she is interested in international relations, specifically globalization and geopolitics. On campus, she is part of the Amherst Debate Society, Dance and Step (DASAC), and Ideas 2 Innovation (i2i), and works at the Admission Office as a Tour Guide and Office Assistant. In her free time, she enjoys going into town, watching Formula 1, and playing with her roommate's cat.
Hannah Messaye is a Political Science and Black Studies double major, particularly interested in the connection between colonialism and international law. She grew up in Los Angeles, California, and loves getting a change of scenery here at Amherst. On campus, she is a part of the Amherst Debate Society, Acapella, Law Review, and works as a Darkroom Monitor in Fayerweather. After her time at Amherst, Hannah hopes to attend law school. She enjoys reading, film photography, and listening to Hamilton in her free time.
Elaine is an economics and political science double major from southern California. She is specifically interested in analyzing the role of economic issues, power dynamics, and neocolonialism in international relations. After Amherst, she hopes to study international law. In her free time, Elaine enjoys exploring different genres of music, practicing piano in Arms, and coming up with new recipes in her rice cooker.
Maika Thanner is a Political Science major pursuing the International Relations certificate. Born in New York City and raised in Tokyo, where she was educated in German, she is trilingual in Japanese, German, and English (and continuously learning new languages). Her topics of interest are environmental policy relating to climate change and immigration policy. On campus, she is involved in the Japanese Culture Club and the International Student Association. In her free time, she is actively expanding her personal library or taking strolls through nature in search of new photo inspirations. After Amherst, Maika hopes to attend graduate school for International Affairs.
Angela Tang is a prospective Political Science and Economics double major. She is fluent in Chinese and English, proficient in Latin, and planning on learning more languages. Angela is interested in international law, and the impact of music and culture on social movements. On campus, she is part of the Amherst Symphony Orchestra, and enjoys instrumental music and digital music production.
