The IR Lab studies global politics, with a particular emphasis on conflict studies. The lab employs a variety of research tools, including data collection, data mining, and qualitative analysis.  The lab is run by Eleonora Mattiacci, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Amherst College.

Project 1: Lobbying during Civil Wars

Almost 80% of countries involved in civil wars lobby the US. Why? What do they hope to achieve? Are they successful? We collect data to better analyze these puzzles.

Project 2: Environmental Destruction

We leverage both primary and secondary sources to discover the extent to which the environment is shaped by wars and conflict.
