The Winona State University campus is situated between the downtown and Lake Winona. The former has many bars and restaurants, while the later has many outdoor activities. Either is just a few blocks from campus and easily walkable. If headed downtown it is recommended to cross Broadway (the large central street running east-west) at an intersection with a stop-light or cross-indicators. The road is very wide and pedestrians are often blocked visual by vehicles parked on the street.
Bus service is is available in Winona with a standard fair of $1.25 for a single ride paid on the bus (cash only). It runs Monday - Friday 6 am - 6:15 pm. There are also deviated route and dial-a-ride services. Visit the Winona Transit Service website for more details.

Electric Scooters by Bird are available in Winona. They are spread widely around town and can be accessed through the Bird App (Android or iOS)
This yearly city festival takes place June 11 - June 15, 2025. There are many events (see details here https://www.winonasteamboatdays.com/) including a carnival that takes over many of the downtown streets, live music, food trucks, a parade & firworks.

Winona is known for its outdoor activities. There are great trails around Lake Winona for walking, running, or biking. Disc Golfing is also very popular, with three courses in Winona. Two of the courses are close to campus and discs can be rented from Lake Lodge
