The product covers all major Greek ferry routes, supports bilingual use from day one, and is built on the premise that booking a ferry should feel as effortless as planning any other part of a trip.

Its name has been inspired by the Greek word Αλκυόνη (halcyon). Αλκυόνη (Alcyone) derives from the Greek ἀλκυών (halcyon), meaning "kingfisher bird". Rooted in ἅλς (sea) and κύων (conceiving), it stems from the myth of Alcyone, who was transformed into a kingfisher. The gods calmed the seas for her to nest, giving rise to "halcyon days", a period of peaceful, calm waters.
