I'm an Adjunct Professor of Rhetoric at Deree, the American University of Greece, after having served as a Professor of Linguistics at Qatar University for 16 years, with research and teaching interests in speech style, branding, language and identity, and their interaction with AI. Lately, I have developed an interest in sociolinguistic aspects of AI and UX designing, with a deep interest in people, communication, and clarity. After years of analyzing language, discourse, and human interaction, I’ve moved on to a new mystery: why so many digital products are so unnecessarily confusing. Now I use that insight to design experiences that feel simpler, calmer, and more human.
