I am from boxes
From Uhaul’s and packing tape
I am from boxes in the attic
(lying, never leaving
Never feeling dusty)
I am from bluebonnets on the highways
To walks down to the beach
To having a doctors appointment with a cartoon mouse.
The oak tree
Whose twisting thick stump I remember
As if I was still in elementary school
I’m from homemade guacamole and Cowboys games
I’m from Camelback Mountain and Dr. Seuss
I’m from the know-it-alls and pass-it-ons
From you have 2 ears and 1 mouth
I’m from a wafer a week can save you
And 3 persons 1 God is your savior
I’m from a place not so Bitter
From nana’s making her pie and fried chicken
From I remember when’s
And I remember who’s
On August 6th there were
Folders and folders spilling of old pictures
A haze of familiar faces
I yearn for today
I am from these moments
Nurturing me as I go
Just one more stripe on the plaid.
Think for yourself!
“She is Clothed in Strength and Dignity and Laughs without Fear of the Lord”

“ The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.”

God wouldn’t give you a dream that could never come true.
