What are we doing?
You're writing a research paper. Showing where you found your information is an important part of the process. Not doing the citation part is like making a cup of hot chocolate and forgetting to add the cocoa.
Why is the librarian teaching this?
Librarians deal with intellectual property and copyright issues. Correctly acknowledging (citing) the creator of an original work is a HUGE deal. If you follow along with her instruction, she basically does this whole part for you with you.
What should I do? I missed a day!
All of the lessons are in video form under the Instruction tab on this website. You can also seek out the librarian for help, but she'll quiz you on the videos covering the material you missed. She won't help you unless you have made a concerted effort to understand the lessons yourself first. ;-)
Is this for a grade?
Yes
All my citations are missing from Bibcitation! Where did they go?
Make sure you are signed into your Bibcitation account. If you skipped this step from the beginning your citations have not been saved.
Why did the librarian cross off one of my sources from my works cited page?
Part of the research process is finding academically appropriate sources. She will have explained why sites like Wikipedia, SparkNotes, CliffsNotes, PinkMonkey, Schmoop, GradeSaver, etc. (while useful) are NOT legit when writing a paper for a grade.
