Q&A with Ira

Q: Why are you running?

A: After more than 40 years of management, hands-on work experience, and community involvement, I feel it’s time to give back in a larger way. I’m running for council because I believe the people of Trent Lakes deserve leadership that is approachable, experienced, and focused on practical solutions that help our municipality continue moving forward. I want to use the knowledge and skills I’ve gained throughout my life to help our community grow, improve services, and ensure residents feel heard. My goal is simple: help make Trent Lakes an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Q: What does community mean to you?

A: Community means everything to me. Throughout my life, I’ve always believed in being involved in the communities where I live. Over the years, I have participated in organizations and initiatives including Cubs, Cadets, seniors’ advisory committees, and advocacy efforts supporting seniors’ homes and retirement communities. I strongly believe that people should take pride in their communities and actively contribute to making them stronger. When neighbours support one another and work together, communities thrive.

Q: What can we expect from you as councillor?

A: Residents can expect honest and respectful leadership, open communication, and someone who is accessible and willing to listen. I believe in working hard for the community and dedicating the time and effort needed to serve residents properly. I’m committed to listening, learning, and working together with both the community and fellow council members to help make informed decisions that benefit Trent Lakes as a whole. My goal is to continue building on the hard work that has already been done while always looking for ways we can improve and move forward together for future generations. 

Q: What would you like people to know about you?

A: I want people to know that I will be approachable and accessible. When residents reach out with concerns or questions, they deserve answers. If I don’t immediately know the answer, I will do everything I can to find it and follow through. I’m committed to putting in the time and effort needed to provide strong service as a councillor. I believe in working respectfully with fellow councillors, building consensus, and helping make decisions that move Trent Lakes forward in a positive direction.

Q: How would you approach issues and concerns brought forward by residents?

A: I believe one of the most important responsibilities of a councillor is to have an open ear and be accessible to the people they represent. Residents deserve someone who listens carefully to their concerns and takes them seriously. When multiple residents are expressing the same concerns, it’s important that council works together to build consensus and bring those issues forward for discussion and action. Good leadership starts with listening, communicating honestly, and working toward practical solutions that benefit the community as a whole.

Q: What is your overall vision for the future of Trent Lakes?

A: My goal is to continue building on the progress already made while always looking for ways to improve. If we can continue making things as good as, or even better than they were before, then we’re moving in the right direction. I believe that with open minds, honest communication, and a willingness to work together, we can continue strengthening our community for years to come. At the end of the day, all we can do is give our best effort, listen to the people we serve, and keep working toward a better future for everyone in Trent Lakes.
