A message from Ira

My name is Ira Peters, and I am proud to once again put my name forward for Councillor in Galway–Cavendish. I am deeply committed to serving our community and being a strong voice for the residents who call Trent Lakes home. 

My family’s roots in this area span more than 100 years, and my wife Jeanette and I are proud to live, work, and raise our family here. This community has shaped my values of service, accountability, respect, and hard work.

With over 40 years of experience in the skilled trades, leadership, and management, as well as service in the Canadian Armed Forces, I understand the importance of responsibility, teamwork, and practical decision-making. Throughout my life, community service has remained at the heart of everything I do.

As your Councillor, my priorities are clear:

• Responsible and transparent fiscal management

• Protecting and preserving our environment

• Improving roads and infrastructure

• Fair and balanced taxation

• Supporting thoughtful and sustainable growth

• Strengthening local economic development and supporting small businesses

I believe strong communities are built through listening, collaboration, and leadership that puts residents first. Together, we can continue building a municipality we are proud to call home.
