Program

IPCAI 2022 will be held as a hybrid event with both on-site and remote participation. The following program gives an overview over the content of the conference.

Program Format

IPCAI 2022 will feature the following session formats:

Short Presentations

The Short Presentations session will give the authors of Regular Papers the opportunity to pitch their contribution to the on-site and remote audience in a 5 minute talk. Each session is subdivided into two sub-session of an overarching topic after which there might be time for a short plenary discussion. This session will be streamed via Zoom and the access will be provided to the participants on the CARS website.

Long Presentations

The Long Presentations sessions will consist of 15 minute talks about the Regular Papers contributions voted highest by the audience for each overarching topic. This is a “conventional” conference session in which selected authors have the opportunity to present their work in more detail. The audience will have the chance for a 5 minute plenary discussion after each talk. The session will be streamed via Zoom, the access will be provided to the registered participants on the CARS website.

Long Abstracts

The Long Abstracts session will feature 5 minute pitches of the short contributions including novel ideas, recent breakthroughs or software solutions without an extensive evaluation available yet. The audience will have the chance for a plenary discussion about innovative ideas discussed in the long abstract session. This session will be streamed via Zoom, the access will be provided to the participants on the CARS website.

Break & Discussions

The Break & Discussions session is intended to serve as the “poster session” for the hybrid conference format. The participants will get the opportunity to discuss the individual contributions with the authors both on-site and virtually:

On-site in Tokyo, each presenting author of the preceding session present in Tokyo will be assigned a station (high table or similar) at which the work can be discussed with the participants attending the venue in Japan. The discussion is preferably augmented with additional digital material that is encouraged to be provided by the author. On-site participants will have the chance to engage at virtual discussions via dedicated “Stations” provided at the venue or by logging into the breakout rooms using their own devices.

Virtually, each presenting author of the preceding session that cannot attend in person in Tokyo as well as a representative of each contribution presented on-site will be assigned a virtual poster space in which a detailed discussion can be held with the virtual participants. The discussion is preferably augmented with additional digital material that is encouraged to be provided by the author.

Format of additional digital material, in general there is no restriction in the material provided by the presenting author, recommended material includes but is not limited to:

  • a single slide with the transitional poster format

  • Multiple slides showing main message and results

  • Supporting material such as videos and demos

As an on-site presenting author, please feel free to use any personal device to present your material.

Important information for on-site presenting authors:

  • We highly recommend on-site presenting authors to select a representative of their paper for the virtual discussions and engagement with online participants before June 4th by contacting one of PCs. The representative can be in a remote location or in Tokyo and needs to be available to answer questions in our online poster presentation platform in parallel to our in-person sessions.

  • As an on-site presenter, please feel free to use any personal device to present your material.
