Hi! My name is ioni!
Hi! My name is ioni!
Who I am
My full name is Ionatán Biniamin Maghidman, I go by ioni (pronounced EonE). Originally from Brazil, São Paulo, where I lived my first 15 years of life. I'm based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, where I have been living since 2017, now as a citizen. I graduated the bachelor of Games Design of RMIT University with high distinction in 2022.
As a professional, I am always eclectic with my interests. I enjoy delving into multiple disciplines that encompass many facets of Game Development, mainly Producing, Programming, 3D Art, Writing, Sound Design and Music. Still, I am always eager to broaden my interests further.
I am a quick learner and enjoy being multidisciplinary. Not only because I am curious, but especially because it makes me a more effective communicator. Knowing how to tie all the separate pieces of the puzzle which is games design, into a single, cohesive game. I always summarize who I am in the projects I participate with the phrase: "I am the 'get stuff done' person".
As an individual, I am a people person. Even though I am perfectly capable of individual effort, I do my best work in cooperation with others. I am a clear communicator and an equally strong listener of others. I appreciate above all honesty and kindness when I communicate, which is also why I take criticisms well.
My professional eclecticism is a byproduct of my curiosity in my personal life. I enjoy spending my time playing videogames, reading books (especially dystopian fictions!), playing music (guitar and piano, can kind of sing), learning new languages (currently Italian!), exercising outdoors and many other hobbies!
My Experience
Currently I work as a Motion Graphics Designer for Champion Data, a sports company that provides statistics and graphics for sports in Australia and abroad, such as footy, cricket, golf, etc. My most notable project thus far has been developing and maintaining the scoreboards seen on the big screens of stadiums of AFL games, such as the MCG and Marvel. More projects are currently under development and on schedule for the next footy season.
I run a small indie studio called Quadrado Studios with 3 fellow graduates of RMIT. We are currently developing our first complete game, Garganta, for a future full release on Steam. We plan on using this game as our first step into the professional games industry! We do also plan on developing more games as a group in the future.
The start of my career was in education! I worked in a primary school for 2 years, where I used to run a technology workshop, where I taught kids how to use many useful tools available in an iPad, such as video editing, digital painting, introductory coding, etc. I owe lots of my communication skills to this experience, because as the saying goes: "If you can explain it to a child, you can explain it to anyone!"
I have participated in an internship in Mighty Serious, where I aided the design team in the development of a training software for elderly care staff. I organized all the existing information we worked with, as well as finding new optimizations for future updates.
Notable Achievements
Upon graduating university, I received the Vice-Chancellor’s List Award, for "finishing in the top two per cent of RMIT higher education students in 2022."
During my second year of university, my group and I received the Dean's List Award for "excellence, critical inquiry, and collegiate teamwork on our group project, Lost in Train Station. Second Year University, 2021."
Garganta has been featured publicly in multiple occasions:
