Hello! My name is Belle Whitehurst and I am a resident of Kalamazoo MI! I am an rising undergraduate senior majoring in Political Science with a history minor. Politics has fascinated me all my life because of the decisions all the governments make and the reasoning behind them. Especially with residing at a Ohioan college with their being a new bill passed, it creates an even higher interest. In addition I am going to adding a focus more on the environmental aspect for both majors. The environment can be connected with all of life and it quite useful to have knowledge on it. I have a focus on the black experience as well. My desire to be in "The Room Where It Happens" is high with wanting to work within the government to understand their actions deeper.
For the 2023/2024 school year I am an first year Calhoun RA! My first year being an RA was an adventure, and now I am going to be a Head Resident Advisor for the 2024/25 school year! In my leisure time I enjoy, running, listening to music, coffee runs, trips, and spending time with friends & partner! Everyday is an adventure for me to figure out more of what I enjoy doing. HRA was amazing this past semester and I had a wonderful floor, so no complaints there. I did balance my RA role as well as my student and personal life, it was tough, but I did it. I continue to find new coffee shops and hidden gems to show to my partner and experience together.
Joining the UHP Program was a great choice I made. And it will continue to thoroughly have an impact on me throughout my years at UC. Whether that be allowing me to go on more study tours or helping me gain internships. Whatever it may be I am extremely excited to take multiple honor seminars, study tours, or maybe even completing a self-designed honors experience. I traveled to Austria and Hungary because of a honors study abroad course and cannot wait for more! Now I have traveled to the Amazonia and experienced Brazilian culture as well as a beautiful ecosystem. There are so many seminars, tours, and courses that cover everybody's curiosities. In addition, I am also eager to see what my senior year holds because my first, second, and third years were adventures to say the least. I have been noticing my changes through my years. I am able to handle conflicts and my emotions with more grace. I am continous changing, and I am excited to witness those positive changes for the future.
