Over the course of this extra credit unit, the 9th and 10th grade students of General Chemistry will learn the basics of Analytical Chemistry. Topics will include real world uses of Analytical Chemistry, the principles of chromatography and spectroscopy, as well as the relevant instrumentation. Students will build their own instrumentation, conduct experiments analyzing both known and unknown substances, and present their results.

- Conduct chromatography experiment.

- Build spectrometer.
- Conduct spectroscopy experiment.
- Use spectrometer to analyze a household liquid chosen from the list of approved liquids and discuss results via flipgrid
Lesson 3:
- Compile data and work on infographics and presentations
- Present to the class and give feedback on other presentations
