- Participate in the introductory discussion
- Make at least one post

- Use the discussion to form pairs for the experiments and final presentation for this unit
- Email me with your pair
- Complete the Chromatography Experiment
- You and your partner will conduct the experiment during my office hours. Pick a day of the week that will work for both you and your partner and email me with your decided date
- Read through the lab instructions prior to arriving
- Complete the lab and gather the results
- Use the post experiment discussion to ask questions about your results and discuss your findings

Directions:
- Collect unknown sample for analysis, TLC plate, beaker and cover, capillary tube, and solvent from instructor
- Prepare the TLC plate
- Draw a line in pencil near bottom of plate
- Use the capillary tube to place a dot of the sample on the line
- Prepare the beaker
- Pour a small amount of solvent into the beaker
- Get a cover ready
- Place the plate line side down in the beaker with the solvent and cover
- Watch the plate as the solvent moves up
- Remove the plate when the solvent is near the top and draw a line to signify how high the solvent reached quickly before it evaporates
- Calculate the Rf values and use provided resources to determine the components of the sample
