In recent years, the Adam Mickiewicz university of Poznań has established itself as an important research centre for morphosyntax and alignment. Its contributions to these topics take both syncronic and diachronic approaches, ranging from in-depth studies on specific features in individual languages all the way to large-scale comparisons of entire language families. Worth mentioning are the 'Valency, Argument Realization, and Grammatical Relations in Baltic' project, out of which arose a series of three volumes with contributions by leading scholars, and the ASTRAPIE project focusing on transitivity prominence and alignment in Indo-European.
