Matthew Breuer received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Ripon College in Wisconsin, his home state. He earned his Master's in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, CIIS.

The Integral component means incorporating all aspects of a person. This also translates to a western approach of depth psychology combined with eastern wisdom traditions, plus attention to the intersectionality of diversity, especially including POC and individuals in the QUILTBAG community.

He completed a year as a Clinical Intern at the Stonewall Project, which specializes in harm reduction approaches to health.
