DOW Thermax meets this grade because it has a number of fire tests including UL, FM and AS/ISO9705 (Walls and Ceiling) Group 2

- pH neutral
- Not made with formaldehyde
- Tested in an ILAC approved lab and assessed in Australia to test requirements, no restrictions to installation because of Codemark alternate solution.

- R-Values tested by CSIRO
- AS9705 valid till 2019 as per NCC/BCA. Group 1 using the same criteria Codemark allowed ceiling only assessment.
- Fixings debate is dependant on AS5637 which has not been articulated. The influence of fixings on the Group number is unknown.
- De Silva Solutions recommends minimum 4 plastic fixings (avoid Hilti as their warranty and service has been less than consistent). Integra has testing of PIRMAX for longevity of install under standard operating conditions. A fire engineer needs to be consulted if the product is required to perform under the fire load and conditions, which is complex to predict. For example, using customers have asked if 4 plastic fixings with one metal fixing in the middle would be sufficient? The most correct answer has to be we don't know how fixings behave in every fire scenario.

EPS foil faced products that need to be installed behind a non-combustible external lining. Testing is of a generic nature, suitable for residential homes looking for a cost effective short-medium term solution.
To be considered in this grade products would avoid the following issues raised;
- R-Value testing from a non-ILAC lab or has been tested and proven to be half the R-Value when tested in Australia
- Any phenolic foam because of pH and water absorption issues.
- All foil faced products claiming a reflective cavity and not making clear the material or product R-Value.
