3. PRIVACY POLICY
As with all websites and apps, there is a risk of a breach of confidentiality and we cannot guarantee the integrity of data that is transmitted over the internet. However, we take measures to reduce the probability of a breach. All your data will be stored under your anonymous account and the app will not collect any personal information about you that could potentially be linked to your identity. During the study, your data is collected locally on your device and synchronized with Google’s Firebase Cloud services, which are certified under major privacy and security standards. The records of the study will be stored on secure, password-protected lab computers and server space accessible only to trained lab personnel. Only you and the experimenters have access to your data. At any time, you are free to withdraw consent.
4. DATA USE
The data will be used for experimental purposes only. Data containing no identifiable information may be shared with other professors or graduate students for further analysis. We will be keeping data collected as part of this experiment indefinitely.
5. DATA GATHERED
We will gather the following data (your data is completely anonymous):
(1) Consent data
(2) Basic information (age, gender, and country of origin)
(3) Results of the psychological surveys (at the beginning and end of the experiment) composed of short scales belonging to the area of mindsets, beliefs, mindfulness, self-improvement, or well-being.
(4) Information about a challenging situation you are going through, how it makes you feel, and how you want to act.
(5) Information about your values and value-congruent action.
(6) Your reports about how you are feeling and thinking, such as:
- The emotions you are going through.
- The intensity of the emotion you are feeling.
- Thoughts and beliefs.
- The color, forms, and names of the avatars that are associated with different limiting beliefs and emotions.
- Personal experiences that can prove limiting beliefs wrong.
- The degree to which you believe different thoughts.
- How long it takes you to notice that you are thinking certain thoughts.
(7) Exit survey questions regarding your user experience.
Your data will be completely anonymous and we won't ask for any information that could potentially link your data to your identity.
6. WITHDRAW CONSENT
Your participation in this research is voluntary. You may withdraw your participation at any time and ask for your data to be deleted. To withdraw your participation, please send an email to victoria.amo@tuebingen.mpg.de. You will receive a basic compensation of 2.18£ per hour you have invested in the experiment when withdrawing. To calculate your compesation, you will need to provide the code you used to login.
