As the playoffs are nearing an end here is the 2023 OAA football season recap
Avondale (4-0-0) 9-2
Avondale has a perfect record of 4 wins and 0 losses, with a winning percentage of 1.000. They are the top team in the Gold division, having won all of their games so far. Avondale is currently the dominant force in this division with a recent birth into the state playoffs and will be fun to watch in coming years.
Ferndale (3-1-0) 4-5
Ferndale has performed well with 3 wins and 1 loss, resulting in a winning percentage of 0.750. Junior QB Cullen Hock was one of many bright spots in the Eagles team and will be interesting to follow into next year. They are one of the top teams in the division and have a strong chance of contending for the division title.
Pontiac (1-3-0) 3-6
Pontiac won 1 game and lost 2. They are in the middle of the division standings and will be looking to improve their performance to move up. Their QB was a shining star for the Pheonix in one of their few good seasons in recent memory
Royal Oak (2-2-0) 3-6
Royal Oak also had a record of 2 wins and 2 losses. They are on par with the gold division and are aiming to move up in the standings. With a win over rival Berkley they hope to bring more hype into this off-season
Berkley (0-4-0) 0-9
Berkley with a record of 0 wins and 4 losses, was unable to win a game this year and had an extraordinarily large senior class including QB Sunny Kadlitz, and DT Amare Bell. They have some upside next year with now Senior RB Anthony Anderson and their new QB Connor Bushey. They are currently at the bottom of the division and will be working to improve their performance in the upcoming season.
Southfield Arts & Tech (4-0): 10-1
Southfield Arts & Tech has had an excellent season with a perfect division record of 4 wins and 0 losses. They are currently the top team in the division. outgoing senior Isaiah Marshall has really impressed this year with big wins and it will be interesting to see what their roster looks to be next year
Groves (4-1) - 6-4
Groves has performed well with 4 wins and 1 loss, resulting in a winning percentage of 0.800. This entire team is full of complete ballers, all are ready to play no matter the team, really looking forward to seeing this team next year. Despite the loss in the playoffs this year, I can see a complete run next year with now-senior RB Noah Sanders.
Harper Woods (3-1): 8-3
Harper Woods has also had a successful season with 3 wins and 1 loss. This team came in very hot this year and continued throughout the season and into the playoffs, I'm very excited to see if they can take the next step while they compete throughout these playoffs
Rochester (1-3): 3-6
Rochester has faced challenges this season with 1 win and 3 losses. They will likely be looking to improve their performance in the upcoming games to climb in the standings. This team is interesting, they always play hard and are fun to watch, it'll be fun to watch them turn this thing around soon
Farmington (1-3): 2-7
Farmington has a similar record to Rochester, with 1 win and 3 losses. They are in the lower half of the standings and may be working to enhance their performance. They had a disappointing season this year but I can see a potential turn around in this program and a chance to compete come November
Bloomfield Hills (0-5): 1-8
Bloomfield Hills has struggled this season, with no wins and 5 losses. They had a rough season this year but I can see a potential turnaround in this program and maybe take the next step
Seaholm (4-0): 9-2
Seaholm has had an exceptional season with a perfect record of 4 wins and 0 losses. Despite the disappointing loss to Waterford Mott in the playoffs and the Kinnies graduating, Seaholm should be able to bounce back easily and pick up steam come August.
North Farmington (3-1): 4-5
North Farmington has had a strong season with 3 wins and 1 loss. Their winning record this year positions them as a competitive team in the league for the coming years, and they are in contention for another successful season.
Oak Park (2-2): 3-6
Oak Park had a balanced season with 2 wins and 2 losses. They have maintained an even record and will aim to improve their performance in the next season to compete at a higher level in this league.
Troy (1-3) - 5-4
Troy struggled this season, with 1 win and 3 losses. Losing RB Nolan Block and other key starters but I believe they will be able to compete in their division next year. They are currently on the lower end of the standings and may be looking to improve their game come August.
Athens (0-4): 3-6
Athens faced challenges this season, with no wins and 4 losses. They are currently at the bottom of the division standings and will be working hard to secure their division title with many new players coming up this season.
Lake Orion (5-0): 10-1
Lake Orion had a very successful season with a perfect 5-0 record, indicating their dominance. Despite a loss in the playoffs, they are in a strong position to compete for years to come, showing their potential for continued success.
Clarkston (4-1): 6-5
Clarkston had a successful season, with a 4-1 record, and they managed to defeat a powerful Lake Orion team in the playoffs. This victory demonstrates their strength and readiness to compete at a high level.
West Bloomfield (3-2): 9-2
West Bloomfield had a very good season, finishing with a 3-2 record. The team includes standout players like 3-star wide receiver Elisha Durham, which adds to their chances to a deep run next year. They have the potential for further success in the future.
Adams (2-3): 6-4
Adams had a good season with a 2-3 division record. They will need to bounce back next year to regain their competitive edge and aim for a more successful playoff run this next season.
Oxford (1-4): 4-6
Oxford's season had a 1-4 record, but one of their bright spots was Luke Johnson, a key player for the next year. Their development and improvement will be crucial for future success.
Stoney Creek (0-5): 3-6
Stoney Creek had a challenging season, ending with a 0-5 division record. They will need to bounce back next year to recover from a rough season and work toward a more successful year this upcoming season in a loaded division.
