Paul’s childhood dream was to be a detective. He started his job on a typical rainy New York day. The weather was very dark, and it looked scary. All of the roads were wet. But it still looked gorgeous. Because you know it is New York. His manager spoke to him about his job’s duties. He was nervous because of this speech. He started his internship because he was trying to learn the job through real cases. He goes to the cases daily to develop himself and adapt to the environment. This took about one year at the end of his internship. Finally, he started his job literally.
On his first official day, he got one crucial case. They went to the scene of the crime with colleagues. The crime scene was on Arthur Avenue Street. When they entered the building, they saw the body lying on the ground. At first, he was disgusted by it, but he realized his job’s importance. The whole house smelled of body blood and insects in each room. A sound came from the tiles every time they stepped on it, at the end of all their work. They left.
He was working in-house on the case. He fell asleep while he was working in the house. In the morning, he solved the case. After that, he suddenly went to the office to start a new case. Surprisingly, he solved the case rapidly. It went like this for a while. After nearly 30 cases had been solved, the manager took him to his office one day. The manager looked stressed. He was like a hungry lion. His face was flushed with anger. He looked directly at him. The manager was triggered by something. The detective asked:
-What happened, sir?
All the cases you solved are wrong. You have to fix all of them and learn new perspectives, or I will have to fire you. The detective was surprised. To him, all of the cases were solved correctly. The detective said, “I got it, sir. I will fix it, but in my opinion, all the cases are solved correctly.”
After that, he left the office. He worked on the cases for two weeks. But he couldn’t find the mistakes. As a last resort, he went to meet a master detective whom he knew. He talked about his methods and perspectives. The master said just one sentence. “You have to find the solution by eliminating the methods. These confused him so much. When he arrived home, he thought for a while without leaving his room. As the master said, he researched it with different methods, and he saw details he had not seen. But, again, he couldn’t find the mistakes. Suddenly, the phone rang. The manager was calling, and he answered it. The manager said they found the problem and told him to come immediately. When the detective entered the room, the manager was very angry, and someone was standing next to him. The person standing was the detective’s colleague.
Manager: Your solutions were actually correct.
Detective: In that case, what was the actual problem?
Manager: Your colleague changed the evidence.
The detective was surprised at how to react and woke up. At the same time, he was glad that the problem wasn’t with him. He learned that he saw the details he had missed. Thanks to it, he had to pay attention to the people he worked with. Later in his life, he was known as a successful person in his career, and what he learned guided him.
